The Obameter: Tracking Obama’s Campaign Promises

From Politifact:

PolitiFact has compiled about 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the campaign and is tracking their progress on our Obameter. We rate their status as No Action, In the Works or Stalled. Once we find action is completed, we rate them Promise Kept, Compromise or Promise Broken.

View the list of promises and related graphics here. One great feature of the Internet is the ability to track the performance of politicians in real time like this.

What about the global gag rule? Did Obama not make an explicit campaign promise to recind it? Or do the people who run the website just not care about it? Overall it seemed so economy/war focused…

Good question. The only abortion related promise listed in his promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/promise/501/sign-the-freedom-of-choice-act/

Repealing the “global gag rule” may fit under #403, “Increase efforts to reduce unintended pregnancy”: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/promise/403/increase-efforts-to-reduce-unintended-pregnancy/
