More on Racial Discrimination at U Florida Levin College of Law

After reading about Professor Russell-Brown’s suit, a female African-American graduate of UF Levin College of Law reached out to a source who wishes to remain anonymous.  The alumna related to the source her own experience with discrimination.  In an e-mail, the source says as follows:

I got a call today from a woman in [redacted] who was a law student at the time  Sherrie was teaching. He[r] name is [redacted], graduated in [redacted]. She’d read about the suit being filed at taxprof.typepad.com. She related her  own experiences of race discrimination. At her orientation she and others were told of strides, etc. that had been made regarding African-Americans at the school and how many years back white students would shuffle their feet on the floor when black students rose to speak in class. She said shortly after this, she had this happen in class. It was a group of white male students. They said racist things to her in class and posted pictures of her in Professor Joe Little’s class that were disparaging – though not overtly racist. She complained to [Dean] Jerry. Ultimately the whites apologized. She was responsible for having [redacted] speak on campus about race issue[s].

A copy of the email is available here. Identifying information has been redacted.
