That’s what MSNBC correspondent David Shuster asked while interviewing two guests about Chelsea Clinton’s role in her mother’s campaign, according to the WaPo.com (actual clip is here, and see also.) There aren’t enough hours in the day to blog every example of the sexist garbage being thrown at Hillary Clinton these days, but this post at Shakesville gives a useful if depressing overview.

Update here.
Taylor Marsh has an excellent post about this. Some commenters are listing names of advertisers to contact in protest. Sexist have been coming from MSNBC for a long time now. Many of us have sent e-mails to no avail. It’s time to protest to sponsors. taylormarsh.com
Not surprisingly, the Clintons have noticed the pattern coming out of MSNBC and are threatening reprisals.
“Threatening reprisals” would be one way to characterize it I guess. But I think there is room to believe Hillary is acting on principle here. And I’d say the same thing if Obama was being accused of “pimping” his wife or children, or if a Republican candidate was being accused of this.
I didn’t intend my language to mean anything about being unprincipled. (I guess I’m not familiar with negative connotations of that phrase – my bad?) I think what she’s doing is 100% correct. MSNBC’s hosts clearly aren’t ready to respect women in this campaign.
I’m probably overly sensitized, and should step away from the computer for a while.
